Inspiring kids to be entrepreneurial.

About Us

May 1st, 2012
Here we are packed for our USA adventure. Click our photo to visit our travel blog.

Let me introduce the team behind Enterprise for Kids. All up, we number nine “budding entrepreneurs” and we are all members of one big happy family!

Our eldest is Kaitlin. She is nudging sixteen and has a passion for the creative arts. She’s an exceptional drawer, loves photography and gets along really well with toddlers.

Jai, at fourteen, loves playing sport. He is very bright and he is incredibly skilled with using computers and working with numbers.

Next in line is Flynn. Sport is also one of his passions. He too is skilled with the creative arts. He has an easy going nature and tremendous confidence with talking to others. Flynn is twelve.

Amber, who’s ten, follows in her older sister’s artistic footsteps. She is a good organizer, loves reading and writing stories and she gets along well with everyone.

Kit is six. He loves all things electronic and has lots of buddies at school. He’s right into his football and can also talk to anyone. He has the brightest smile you’ve ever seen.

Chayse is a thinker and has a wild sense of humor. He is exceptionally bright and has turned four. He thinks he should be doing whatever his older brothers do!

Akaisha is our little baby at just fourteen months. She is the last of our children (we think!!) and is definitely the one in charge in our household!

All our kids hope to embrace Enterprise for Kids and develop a mindset for success in order to become young entrepreneurs.

Now that leaves us…

Cathy, my wife, is a trained school teacher with a passion for raising children in a holistic way. She is the backbone behind this family and has a dream to develop and run a school where all the children are free to learn using their passions and natural talents. A school where kids learn to discover enterprise, develop their entrepreneurial skills and do so without the social conditioning found in our “normal” school system that can often stifle childrens’ uniqueness. Cathy sees  deep connections between the physical, emotional, mental and spiritual parts of us and tries, whenever she can, to foster these connections in our own children.

My name is Trevor and I’m also a school teacher. I enjoy all things to do with nature. I’m fortunate to have such a wonderful family and to have the opportunity to work with children. I support the idea that schools (in general) don’t provide children with a “financial” education and certainly don’t teach children to be entrepreneurial. This trait, more often than not, is developed through adversity and a feeling of “not fitting in” when going through the “normal” school system. You only have to read articles and books about  amazing entrepreneurs like Richard Branson and see how most stepped away from the social conditioning of the “normal” school system and achieved success far beyond their wildest dreams. My hope is to change our own childrens’ thinking through Enterprise for Kids and go on a journey that will open up opportunities we’ve only ever dreamed about.

Great work Trev. I distinctly remember you saying you were’t into technology etc. and now I’m reading your blog! Great ideas your kids have – I look forward to hearing the updates, and also of anything I could purchase… Jai might find something useful with http://www.viziapps.com/ – we are looking into this at Aquinas. Keen to see the final app!

Hey Heath, wonderful to have you visit our blog.
Trev has come a long way since the days you two shared a classroom.
We have to be into technology – we have 7 kids with half of them knowing more than us as it is!
Thankyou for the link for Jai – he will find it very useful, I’m sure.
    Kind regards,
    Cathy

Hi Cath and Trev – Love the ideas.
Can we send our kids to you? I’m sure we could see some use come of Jesse’s passion for the wilderness and fishing and Stevi’s passion for creating, drawing and cooking. Wish we lived closer so we could hook into your great ideas. Just had a looong coffee with Saeed and Vic – loving being close to them.
Thanks for including us in your life through the website – keep up the inspiring work.
    Love from the Evan’ssss xx

    Hey Gorgeous Evans Family,
You have two VERY enterprising kids there and we feel they could take any of their hobbies and interests to the next level. In fact we could even see both kids combining their passions and building an entrepreneurial business together! (couple that with great parents and you have a recipe for success right there!)
Get them to brainstorm a whole heap of ideas and we bet their enterprise selves will show up very quickly! 🙂
And better still, your kids aren’t afraid of putting a plan into action….. can’t wait to hear some of the ideas they come up with.
    The Howitt Can xx
